Refined Craftsmanship: Retail Lighting Designer Illuminationworks for Georg Jensen

Illuminationworks collaborated with Universal Design Studio on the lighting design for Georg Jensen’s flagship store on New Bond Street, developed as the benchmark for the brand’s new global retail concept. The strategy supports a calm, luxurious architectural environment while presenting the jewellery and silver collections with clarity, precision and a strong sense of craft.

A central focus of the project was the detailed development of lighting integrated within all merchandise display vitrines, casework and shelving. Fully concealed within the furniture, the lighting delivers gallery-quality illumination, carefully controlling brightness, shadow and reflection. This allows the unique forms, surface finishes and fine detailing of each piece to be read clearly, while maintaining a visually quiet and refined retail environment.

As a flagship for a 120-year-old luxury brand renowned for its craftsmanship, the lighting design plays a key role in reinforcing Georg Jensen’s identity, balancing contemporary retail requirements with a timeless, understated presentation that places the quality of the merchandise at the centre of the experience.
